Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gun Game Brings Back Classic Mini-Map

The long-awaited return of the classic mini-map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has finally arrived, much to the delight of players. This highly sought-after feature has been reintroduced exclusively in the Gun Game mode, which was introduced in Season 2 along with Infected and Grind

In the Gun Game mode, players must eliminate enemies using a range of weapons in a specific order, with the ultimate goal of being the first player to cycle through all available weapons. It is within this mode that fans can relish the inclusion of the classic mini-map, which highlights enemies with red dots each time they discharge their weapon.

Previously, Modern Warfare 2 didn’t display red dots on the mini-map whenever enemies fired a weapon, which made it difficult for players to figure out the exact position of their opponents. This change was met with criticism from fans who missed the classic mini-map, but developer Infinity Ward explained that they didn’t want to punish players for firing their weapons and wanted players to actively search out the origin of a gunshot instead of just traveling directly to where the dot is on the mini-map.

Fans of Call of Duty have welcomed the re-introduction of the classic mini-map in Gun Game with great enthusiasm, prompting many to request that it be adopted as the standard feature across all Call of Duty games. It is worth noting, however, that the classic mini-map is currently only available in Gun Game, and its potential inclusion in other game modes is yet to be confirmed.

Despite the mixed reactions to the mini-map changes in Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward remains committed to enhancing the game’s features. In addition to the popular Gun Game, Infected, and Grind modes, players can also anticipate the upcoming release of Drop Zone, All or Nothing, and One in the Chamber, set to be introduced midway through Season 2.

Season 2 also brought a few new maps to Modern Warfare 2, but the core 6v6 maps weren’t entirely new, as Dome is based on an older map and Valderas Museum was present in the beta before getting mysteriously removed. While it’s unlikely that any of these maps or modes will get the classic mini-map, players can still enjoy the feature in Gun Game.

The reintroduction of the classic mini-map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gun Game has been met with excitement from fans who have been calling for its return for some time now. It remains to be seen whether the classic mini-map will be added to other game modes, but for now, players can enjoy the feature in Gun Game and continue to explore the new content added in Season 2.
