These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the PeopleAreGeek website at peoplearegeek.com (the “Site”) and the online tools, articles and services offered there. By accessing the Site you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Site.
1. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site for lawful purposes only. In particular, you agree not to:
- Scan, test or audit websites you do not own or have explicit permission to assess. The tools (Cyber Audit Suite, SecuChecker, NetSecAI, etc.) are intended for sites you control or for which you have authorisation.
- Use the Site to deliver attacks against third parties (probing endpoints with malicious payloads, attempting to overload the Site’s backend probe endpoints).
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site’s systems, accounts or data.
- Scrape the Site at a rate that materially affects its operation. Reasonable automated access for legitimate research is acceptable; obvious abuse is not.
- Reproduce, copy or republish substantial portions of the Site’s content without permission (see Intellectual property below).
We may rate-limit, restrict or block access from any IP address, network or account that violates these terms or behaves in a way that we reasonably consider abusive.
2. Tools and accuracy
The online tools are provided as informational utilities. We invest significant effort in making them accurate, but they are best-effort indicators, not certified compliance assessments. The Site is not a substitute for a professional security audit, legal advice, financial advice or any other regulated activity.
3. Intellectual property
The Site, its articles, its tool implementations, its design, its trademarks and its underlying code are owned by PeopleAreGeek or licensed to us. The articles are available for personal reading, and short excerpts may be quoted with attribution and a link back to the source page. Republishing complete articles, scraping the Site to repost its content, or using the tools’ implementations to power a commercial competing product are not permitted without prior written permission.
The output of running a tool against your own site (your audit JSON, your check results) belongs to you. You may use it freely.
Code snippets and configuration examples published in articles (nginx blocks, .htaccess rules, Python regex patterns) are released under the MIT License unless explicitly marked otherwise. You can use them in your own work without restriction.
4. Your contributions
If you leave a comment on an article, send us a bug report, submit a feature request or contribute a finding via email, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, edit and publish your contribution (in part or in full, with attribution at our discretion) for the purpose of improving the Site. We never use contributions for unrelated commercial purposes.
Do not submit information that is confidential, proprietary or copyrighted by someone else without their permission. We may remove any contribution that we judge inappropriate, off-topic or in violation of these Terms.
5. Paid services
The free online tools and articles do not require payment. We offer a separate paid service: a manual cyber audit billed at €49 per engagement, scoped through email at contact@peoplearegeek.com. Specific terms (deliverables, timeline, payment) are agreed in writing before the engagement begins. Payment is due on delivery. Refunds within 14 days if you are not satisfied and we cannot reasonably address your concerns.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and its tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every conceivable attack, or that the tool outputs will be free from inaccuracies. Your use of the Site is at your own risk.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PeopleAreGeek and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of the Site, including loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, or damage resulting from a tool output being inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date. The total aggregate liability for any direct claim related to a paid service is limited to the amount paid for that service.
8. Third-party links
The Site links to external resources (vendor documentation, related tools, standards bodies). We do not control those external sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. Follow such links at your own discretion.
9. Availability and changes
We make reasonable efforts to keep the Site available, but we do not guarantee a specific uptime. Scheduled maintenance is occasionally announced in advance; emergency maintenance can occur without notice. We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue any feature, tool or article at any time. Material changes to these Terms are dated at the top and announced on the Site for at least 14 days before taking effect.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith communication is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent French courts of Bordeaux, except where a consumer protection law of your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
