Online Tools for Network, Server, SEO, AI and Developer Checks

This is where the tools I actually open during the day live. IP and DNS checks. Server pokes, SEO audits, the small developer helpers I forget I rely on. An AI prompt now and then, plus the quick security checks that catch trouble before it spreads anywhere. Nothing fancy here. Honestly, it’s just the stuff that earned a spot on my bookmarks bar by being faster than the alternative.

Word and Character CounterLive word, character, sentence and reading-time counts as you type, with a quick fit-check against platform limits.QR Code GeneratorMake a QR for a URL, Wi-Fi, text, email or phone. Pick the error-correction level and download a PNG.What Is My IPYour public IP, plus what your browser quietly leaks. A few privacy notes too, the kind I wish more people actually read.Domain Health CheckOne sweep across DNS, WHOIS, SSL, mail, headers. So you’re not chasing it tab by tab.IP Geolocation LookupCountry, city, ASN, ISP, timezone. Treat them as clues, not gospel. Usually that’s enough.Subnet CalculatorCIDR, netmask, broadcast, binary, VLSM. Doing this math in your head is exactly how it goes wrong.DNS LookupPull A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, CNAME, SOA, CAA in one go, and compare what’s really published with what you think is.Reverse DNS LookupPaste a pile of IPs. Get their PTR records back, all in one batch.WHOIS LookupRegistrar and key dates, nameservers, status flags, DNSSEC. All at a glance.Ping TestHit it a few times. You’ll see if it’s up, and just how slow that round trip really is.Traceroute VisualizerDrop in raw traceroute output. You finally see where the hops, the timeouts and the lag pile up.Port CheckerSee whether a TCP port’s open. You also get a hint about what usually lives behind it.Public IP vs Local IPPrivate ranges, NAT, what’s actually routable. Minus the textbook fog that usually surrounds all this.IPv4 / IPv6 ConverterFlip between IPv4-mapped IPv6, integer, hex. Without the usual headache.HTTP Headers CheckerRead back the security, cache and server headers a response really sends. Not the ones you assumed it did.Domain Health CheckDNS, WHOIS, SSL, mail and headers checked in one pass instead of five tabs.SSL Certificate CheckerIssuer, SAN entries, validity dates, and the HTTPS bits that tend to break without telling anyone.SSL Expiry MonitorDays left on the cert. And roughly how loudly you should panic about renewing it.Website Status CheckerDown for everyone, or just you? Run it a couple of times. Then you’ll know.Uptime CheckerSeveral quick passes. Enough to tell a real outage from a one-off blip.Redirect CheckerFollow the whole 301/302 chain. See wherever a URL really lands, hops and all.Response Time CheckerHow long the server takes to answer. Plus the headers that are worth a second look while you’re here.Compression CheckerTells you whether gzip or Brotli is really on, and whether caching pulls its weight or just sits there.HTTP Status Code ExplainerEvery code from 1xx to 5xx, searchable. For the moment you blank on what 421 even means..htaccess Redirect GeneratorApache 301 snippets for HTTPS, www, moved URLs. Copy, paste, you’re done.Meta Tags CheckerTitle, description, robots, H1, canonical. Basically the stuff Google reads before anything else.Technical SEO Audit ToolCrawlability and metadata, schema, links, speed. All checked in a single pass.Indexability CheckerWhy won’t this page index? Status, robots, canonical, crawl signals. The tool walks through each one.Robots.txt TesterCheck your crawl rules and per-agent blocks, plus the sitemap lines. Before any of them quietly bite you.Robots Meta CheckerCatch a stray noindex or nofollow. Or an X-Robots-Tag header that’s been hiding a page from search this whole time.Sitemap AnalyzerWalk an XML sitemap index, its URLs, the lastmod dates. You’ll catch whatever’s gone stale.Canonical CheckerConfirm the canonical points where you meant it to, rather than at some duplicate you forgot about.Hreflang CheckerUntangle your language alternates and that x-default. Before Google untangles them for you, badly.Open Graph PreviewSee how your link looks once it’s shared. Better here than discovering it looks broken in public.Twitter Card PreviewCheck your X card tags. And what shows up instead when they’re missing.Broken Link CheckerSample your internal links. Flag the dead ones before a reader stumbles into them first.Internal Link CheckerSee your on-page anchors. Which ones are nofollow, which ones stay on-domain.Page Size CheckerHow heavy the HTML really is. And how many resources it drags along behind it.Schema Markup ValidatorPull the JSON-LD off a page and check whether the types hold up under scrutiny.Meta Description GeneratorA few snippet options. Each one carries its character count, so nothing gets cut off mid-sentence in the SERP.Blog Outline GeneratorMaps out your H1 and H2s, the FAQ, the intent behind the search. All before you’ve written a single word.FAQ GeneratorThrows out question ideas. Then hands you a JSON-LD draft to go with them, which saves a tedious step.JSON FormatterValidate, pretty-print, minify. And poke around inside messy JSON until it makes sense.YAML ValidatorCatches the one indentation slip that broke your whole pipeline at 5 p.m. on a Friday. We’ve all been there.XML FormatterTidy it up, shrink it down, or just sanity-check XML on the days you can’t avoid it.Base64 Encoder / DecoderEncode or decode Base64, UTF-8, URL-safe. No need to fire up a terminal for it.URL Encoder / DecoderEncode, decode, and pull a messy URL’s query string apart. Piece by piece, until it’s readable.JWT DecoderCrack open the header, the payload, the expiry. Locally, since tokens are secrets and shouldn’t leave your machine.UUID GeneratorSpin up UUID v4 values. Or check that the one you were handed is legit.Hash GeneratorSHA hashes for files and strings. Plus a note on which one to trust when you’re verifying a checksum.Timestamp ConverterTurn epoch seconds or milliseconds into a date a human can actually read.Cron Expression GeneratorBuild a cron schedule. Then read it back in plain words, so you know when the thing will really fire.Regex TesterWatch your matches and capture groups, plus the replacements, light up live as you type.Regex GeneratorBuild the patterns you reach for most. Then try them on the spot, before they hit prod.Color ConverterSwap between HEX, RGB, HSL. And check the contrast ratio while you’re in there anyway.AI Prompt GeneratorFrames a prompt with a role, some context, an output format. The model quits guessing what you meant.Prompt ImproverTakes a vague prompt. Sharpens it into something the model can actually act on.AI Text CleanerTightens up clarity and flow. Without scrubbing your own voice out in the process, hopefully.Blog Outline GeneratorGives you a search-ready article skeleton. Plus a few FAQ angles to fill in once you start writing.FAQ GeneratorSuggests the questions people actually ask. Drafts answers, and the JSON-LD too, so you ship faster.Meta Description GeneratorHands you a handful of snippet options, counts included. Picking one is easier than staring at a blank box.Code Comment GeneratorWrites docblocks and comments that explain the why. Not the ones that just restate what the code already says.Changelog GeneratorTurns your commits into tidy release notes, Keep a Changelog style. Which beats writing them from scratch every release.Regex GeneratorWalks you through building a pattern. With worked examples along the way, so it doesn’t feel like guesswork.Password Strength CheckerA password quality review that runs local-only. Nothing you type ever leaves the page.Breach-Safe Email CheckerAn email exposure checklist, privacy-first. No address gets harvested here.Phishing URL ChecklistPull a suspicious URL apart. Spot the red flags before you click anything.Security Headers CheckerA hardening review for your response headers. Quick, and it tells you what’s missing.CSP Header BuilderBuilds a Content Security Policy. The header nobody enjoys writing by hand.Firewall Rule HelperDrafts rules for UFW and iptables, plus Nginx and Cloudflare. Saves you digging through old notes..htaccess Redirect GeneratorApache redirect snippets, ready to paste.Robots.txt GeneratorCrawl rule templates that won’t accidentally deindex you.Email DNS Health CheckerAn overview of SPF and DMARC, DKIM, MX. The records that decide whether your mail lands.

Online tools for technical work

I built these for my own work first. Then I cleaned them up enough to hand over. Some run right in your browser. Others lean on a server when they’ve got no choice. They cover the ground I keep walking most weeks: networks that misbehave, servers that need a quick look, dev odds and ends, plus technical SEO and a bit of AI writing and the lighter security stuff. Each one tries to be useful before it bothers explaining itself. There’s a short note, and a link or two to whatever you’ll probably reach for next.

How to use the hub

Pick the hub closest to whatever’s broken and start there. Then hop between the tools that poke at the same problem. A flaky site is rarely one thing, or at least it never is for me, so I’ll usually run status then headers then redirects, then SSL and DNS back to back, until the real culprit finally shows its face. Maybe that’s overkill. Guessing has cost me more afternoons, though.

People Are Geek

I'm Stephane, a network and systems engineer with over 15 years of hands-on experience on production infrastructure, virtualization (ESXi, Proxmox), networking, and self-hosting. Earlier in my career I built and ran a Linux resource site that became a well-known reference for sysadmins. Today I focus on cybersecurity, and I also work as a technical trainer, teaching networking and security to people who do it for a living. Everything on People Are Geek comes from real-world practice, not theory. I build every tool on this site myself, and I write about what I've actually deployed, broken, and fixed. If it's here, I've used it.
